A little story about our company

Rooh-e-Fun (Soul of Art) is more than just a venture—it is a movement to revive and safeguard the fading legacy of traditional craftsmanship. Founded by Yusra Zafar, an artist from Pakistan, this initiative is dedicated to preserving and reimagining centuries-old art. With a deep respect for heritage and a drive for innovation, we aim to modernize and reintroduce this intricate craft to the world. By merging time-honored techniques with contemporary aesthetics, we create exquisite, handcrafted pieces that honor Pakistan’s rich cultural identity while resonating with modern sensibilities.

THE PROCESS OF MAKING CAMEL SKIN LAMPS

Handcrafted with precision, camel skin lamps blend tradition and artistry to create timeless pieces.
Step 1
Cleaning the Hides:

The hides are cleaned until they’re bleached white, ensuring all impurities are removed.

Step 2
Preparing the Hides:

Excess skin is scraped off using a specialized knife called a rambi, until the hides are nearly paper-thin.

Step 3
Grinding the Hides:

After cleaning, the excess skin is ground in a mincing machine five times to achieve the desired texture.

Step 4
Shaping the Lamps:

The thin layer of skin is then placed over clay molds. Any holes are covered with the ground excess skin.

Step 5
Sealing and Drying:

The piece is sealed with a mixture of glue and washing soda, then left to dry for up to four days.

Step 6
Finalizing the Mold:

Once dried, the plaster mold is broken by gently beating it with a stick.

Step 7
Painting:

After removing the mold, the lamp is painted, adding artistic designs and colors.

Step 8
Sealing with Varnish:

Finally, the painted lamp is sealed with varnish to enhance its durability and finish.
